The haute cuisine restaurant Un Piano Nel Cielo owes much to the natural wealth of the Amalfi Coast. The surrounding area produces, in fact, not only most of the raw materials that arrive in our kitchen, but also offers that scenario of fabulous landscapes that can be enjoyed from the terrace of the restaurant on the top floor of the hotel.
Thanks to the large windows of the indoor dining room, all restaurant guests can contemplate the wonderful coastal panorama, whether they dine outdoors or not.
The menu of Un Piano Nel Cielo varies according to the season and is inspired by the rich cultural tradition of Campania, under the wise guidance of the Chef who uses locally produced ingredients to create classic dishes reinterpreted in a creative and absolutely exclusive way. With the sea at your doorstep, fish obviously occupies a place of honor on the menu, with dishes ranging from spaghetti with lobster to tender sautéed squid. The best cuts of local meat, on the other hand, give life to expertly studied dishes such as rack of lamb in a pistachio crust and beef marinated in Marsala. The multi-course tasting menus allow their cooks to showcase their gastronomic philosophy and also offer vegetarian variants. In addition, the sommeliers will assist you in choosing the perfect wine to accompany your dinner, directly from their vast collection of Italian and international bottles.
Leopoldo Elefante is the Executive Chef of Un Piano Nel Cielo, the restaurant on the Amalfi Coast renowned for its Mediterranean cuisine revisited in an innovative way and its breathtaking views. Born and raised in Campania, Leopoldo started cooking at the age of 14. Food has always played an important role in his family, and Leopoldo attributes his culinary interest to the countless hours spent in the kitchen under the guidance of his mother and grandmother.
Leopoldo began his professional career at the Hotel Management School in the historic center of Castellammare di Stabia, in the metropolitan city of Naples, where in 2002 he obtained a degree in Culinary Arts and Culinary Services. From Rome to the Amalfi Coast, Leopoldo trained in some of the most important restaurants in Italy, including the Reale with three Michelin stars in Castel Di Sangro, where he worked under the guidance of Niko Romito, as well as two experiences in four restaurants. Many prominent chefs have a mentor who teaches them to overcome borders, for Leopoldo it was the great master Gualtiero Marchesi, the first Italian chef to have received three Michelin stars, famous for his iconic saffron rice with edible gold leaves . Leopoldo not only draws inspiration from his mentor for his cuisine, but contributes with his culinary creations to the exploration of all the possibilities offered by the extraordinary products of his homeland, Campania.
In 2017 Leopoldo Elefante joined the Un Piano Nel Cielo team, where he holds the role of Executive Chef at Casa Angelina. Striking a perfect balance between presentation and taste, Leopoldo's menu for Un Piano Nel Cielo features the freshest seasonal products from the best suppliers of the Amalfi Coast, presented in an elegant and creative way and accompanied by a rich selection of wines. Each dish is prepared with a gourmet touch, but always respecting the traditions of Mediterranean cuisine.
